St. John's Place Family Center (SJPFC) was established in 1990 as a temporary residence for homeless families in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Our original mission: to transition homeless families into safe and affordable housing. Our founders were:

A commitment to strategic planning leads to a new mission:
In 1996, in response to legislative changes in welfare reform, St. John's Place Family Center (SJPFC) undertook a strategic planning process that resulted in a broader mission of helping homeless families achieve and sustain self-sufficiency.
