Funding priorities are listed below. If you believe you can help with any of these needs or know someone who can, please call Executive Director at (718) 771-7720, ext 254.

1. After-School Needs:

Hire an After-School Director and two Counselors.

2. New Services for Teenagers:

Hire a Social Worker to run a Social Club and Lounge Program.

3. New Research Division:

Hire Research Consultant to re-design Management Information System and improve reporting.

4. General Operating Needs:

Fund meal programs, emergency counseling, warm clothing for children, and facility upgrades.

Run for St. John's in the annual Achilles Marathon

Every year in April, St. John's Place Family Center needs friends to walk, run and fundraise to help our programs serving homeless families. No prior fundraising experience is necessary - it is much easier and more fun than you think!

How we do it: The Achilles Marathon (www.achillesmarathon.com) is the only marathon that invites able-bodied runners and disabled runners to run side-by-side and in-stride, together supporting a range of charities and the local community. All are welcome: disabled, able-bodied, young, old, runners, walkers, relay-racers, volunteers, and spectators.

Fundraising: Each runner, walker, relay team, and volunteer is encouraged to collect pledges per mile run/walked or per hour volunteered at the Achilles Marathon. Corporations and/or individuals can form teams to contribute to and fundraise for St. John's Place Family Center.

Get Involved: It's never too early to start planning your involvement in the Achilles Marathon, for next April. Right now, you can:

1. Begin recruiting a relay team from your school, office, club or friends.
2. Start your training.
3. Devise a mailing list of prospective donors from friends, relatives, neighbors, classmates, coworkers and others.
4. Begin collecting pledges for the April race, or plan other fundraising events for St. John's.

You can make an impact by raising much-needed funds to help families who find themselves homeless and in crisis. We can help you draft an email or a letter letting people know you are volunteering to help raise funds for us, and asking them to pledge $5, $10, $25 or any amount per mile that you run or walk. Send an email to davidhindie@yahoo.com with your name, address, phone number, email, school or work affiliation (job title, employer), and any questions you have. We will contact you with more information.

Raise Funds

Do you know a contact within a corporation, foundation, faith-based funder? Often times people give to people. By becoming personally involved and bringing St. John's Place Family Center to the attention of your contact, you may be responsible for helping us be considered for a major gift or grant. We can support your efforts with a grant proposal, detailed financial information and more. We can host a site visit or provide information over the phone.
